21 California Missions
Mission San Diego
I am pleased to announce my 21 California Missions’s exhibit coming up this December 9th 2017 starting at 12:00 — 3:00 P.M. at Spectrum Art Gallery in Fresno, CA.
The Spanish Missions in California comprise a series of religious and military outposts established by Spanish Catholics of the Franciscan order between 1769 and 1833 to spread the Christian faith among the local natives. Beginning in 1492 with the voyages of Christopher Columbus, the Kingdom of Spain sought to establish missions to convert the natives in Nueva España (New Spain). Visitador General Jose de Galvez engaged the Franciscans, under the leadership of Friar Junipero Serra, to take charge of founding new missions in Alta California by order of King Charles III.
Let me present to you this photo odyssey through the 21 California Missions which I hope you enjoy as much as I have since the day I started photographing these remarkable and enduring Spanish-Franciscan establishments.
Girasoles de Morgan Hill lucen muy elegantes después de una pequeña tormenta y un bello atardecer.
Today is one of those days that I give thanks to God, patrons, family and friends for all of the good things that happen to me and my art. One more piece is on display in one beautiful house here in Germany thanks to my brother Isidro and Ann Cristin. It makes me happy that my art is traveling the globe, and people like it and appreciate it for many years to come. This time one of my 21 California Missions is in Germany -Mission San Antonio de Padua- and more will be on display this coming December 9th at Spectrum Art Gallery here in Fresno, CA. For the 2018 year, Morgan Hill will be the city where my 21 California Missions will be on exhibition for the months of September, October and December. Also, Guadalupe church here in San Jose, CA will be displaying my art in 2018 and more info will come when the time comes.
