Muir Woods National Monument, one of the last stands of old-growth redwood forest on Earth. These towering trees – coast redwoods ( Sequoia sempervirens) – thrive in the fog-washed coastal valley drained by Redwood Creek. Muir Woods is reminiscent of an ancient and more peaceful world.
